Finding Galileo’s Leaning Tower of Pisa experiment
When I told my father that we would visit Italy, father said he wanted to visit Pisa to see the leaning tower, which was the place that his teacher told him that Galileo had an experiment of gravity by dropping to balls. Therefore, the trip to Pisa was the must to recall my father’s memory in childhood.

We left the hotel at dawn with two small bags. We left other stuff at the hotel since we would go back and stay overnight at the same hotel before flying back to Bangkok.
เราออกจากโรงแรมตั้งแต่รุ่งเช้าเพราะได้รถไฟเที่ยวหกโมงกว่า ๆ ด้วยกระเป๋าใบเล็ก ๆ สองใบ สัมภาระที่เหลือทิ้งไว้ที่โรงแรม เพราะหลังจากไปปิซาแล้วต่อด้วยฟลอเรนซ์ เราจะกลับมาพักที่โรงแรมเดิมนี้อีกคืนหนึ่ง ก่อนจะบินกลับกรุงเทพฯ
The hotel staff packed breakfast for us, so we could have breakfast on the train. He gave us bread, jam, butter, apricot juice and apples. It was a pity that there was no yummy croissant. Since we left the hotel too early, the croissants had not arrived into the hotel yet. The hotel staff said if we needed more breakfast, he could pack for us. But we thought it should be better not to carry to much food. Too heavy!!! (If I could turn back the clock, I would ask for more apricot juice. It was tasty!!)
เนื่องจากออกเดินทางแต่เช้า พนักงานจึงให้อาหารเช้าใส่ถุงมา มีขนมปัง แยม เนย น้ำแอปปริคอท แอปเปิล เสียดายไม่มีครัวซอง เพราะเราออกแต่เช้า ครัวซองยังไม่มาส่งพนักงานโรงแรมบอกว่าอยากได้อะไรอีกเพิ่มเท่าไรให้บอกมาจะจัดให้ แต่เราคิดว่าพอแล้วดีกว่า ขี้เกียจแบก (คิดแล้วก็เสียดาย น้ำแอปปริคอท อร่อยมาก)
We took metro to Termini train station and then took a train. While we were finding our carriage, there were two men asking for our online tickets. I thought they wanted to help so I gave them our tickets. They took a look at our tickets and returned them to us and chilly said to us that our coach was there. Later, we found that they sat on other passengers’ seats. The two Asian female passengers had to ask them to find their own seats. These two men even were fine on the train. I suspected that they had no ticket. When thinking of this story, I thought that we were so lucky. In case someone stole our tickets, they would be useless since there were our names in the tickets. When you buy online ticket, it is not mandatory to specify your name. I decided to specify my father’s and my name.
นั่งรถเมโทรมาขึ้นรถไฟที่สถานี Termini เรามาถึงค่อนข้างเร็วนั่งรออยู่พักใหญ่ รถไฟขบวนของเราก็มาถึง ตอนที่กำลังเดินหมายเลขตู้ขบวนอยู่ มีผู้ชายสองคนดูแปลก ๆ มาขอดูตั๋วออนไลน์ของเรา แล้วก็ยื่นคืนให้ พร้อมกับทำหน้าไร้อารมณ์แล้วบอกว่าตู้นี้แหละ เรามาสังเกตเห็นตอนหลังว่าสองคนนี้มีพฤติกรรมน่าสงสัยมาก เวลานั่งก็ไปนั่งที่ของผู้โดยสารคนอื่นที่เป็นผู้หญิงเอเซียสองคน เขาต้องมาขอที่นั่งคืน พอตอนตรวจตั๋ว เหมือนไม่มีตั๋วมาแสดง โดนปรับบนรถไฟด้วย คิดย้อนหลังไปโชคดีที่เราซื้อตั๋วออนไลน์แบบระบุชื่อชัดเจน (ตอนซื้อเลือกได้ว่าจะระบุชื่อหรือไม่) ไม่งั้นไม่รู้จะโดนฉกตั๋วไปหรือเปล่า
The train to Pisa was comfortable. There were tables with power outlet at each seat so all passengers could work on their laptop or using other electronic equipments. Actually, there were WIFI service, too. To use the service, you have to buy a WIFI card in advance.
Along the way to Pisa we enjoys the window views so much. It took around three hours to arrived into Pisa. Then we walked to the luggage drop off service. The service charge was three Euro per luggage per 12 hours. We had two luggages, so we paid six Euro plus one Euro for a map of Pisa. In my view, you do not have to buy any map since the highlights of Pisa were the leaning tower and other constructions in the same area. And it was easy to visit.
รถไฟที่เรานั่งไปปิซานี้ สะดวกสบายมาก มีโต๊ะให้นั่งทำงานพร้อมปลั๊กไฟไว้สำหรับอุปกรณ์อิเล็กทรอนิกส์ต่าง ๆ ด้วย มาพบทีหลังว่ามีบริการไวไฟด้วยแต่ต้องซื้อบัตรไวไฟก่อนออกเดินทางนั่งรถไฟชมวิวสองข้างทางไปเพลิน ๆ ประมาณเกือบ 3 ชั่วโมงก็ถึงปิซา ที่สถานี Pisa Central Station ที่เราไปถึงนี้ มีที่ให้ฝากกระเป๋าเดินทางด้วย คิดราคาใบละ 3 ยูโร ต่อ 12 ชั่วโมง ของเรา 2 ใบ ก็ 6 ยูโร แถมซื้อแผนที่ปิซาอีก 1 ยูโร (จริง ๆ เที่ยวปิซาไม่ต้องซื้อแผนที่ก็ได้ เพราะสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวหลัก ๆ จริง ๆ ก็คือหอเอนและสิ่งก่อสร้างที่อยู่ในบริเวณเดียวกัน) ตอนฝากกระเป๋าเขาจะขอถ่ายเอกสารหนังสือเดินทางของเราไว้ด้วย เป็นหลักฐานตอนมารับกระเป๋าคืน
The Leaning Tower
We walked from the Pisa Central Station to the bus stop opposite to the station and asked two policemen how to go to the Leaning Tower. Actually, no need to ask since the bus to the Leaning Tower was the most crowded one.
ออกจากสถานีก็ถามทางคุณตำรวจที่ยืนอยู่ที่ป้ายรถเมล์ จริง ๆ แล้วไม่ต้องถามทางใครก็ได้ รถเมล์ที่คนขึ้นเยอะที่สุดนั่นเองที่จะพาเราไปปิซา แล้วปลายทางก็คือสถานีที่คนลงเยอะที่สุดนั่นเอง ตอนนี้จำไม่ได้แล้วว่าขึ้นรถเมล์สายอะไร แต่แป๊บเดียวก็ถึงหอเอนแล้ว
It took around ten minutes to the Leaning Tower. There were many tourists. In case you just walk around, no ticket needed. If you want to look inside the Duomo, the Cathedral and climb up to Leaning tower, you need ticket. We decided to buy tickets for the Duomo and the Cathedral only since we wanted to save energy for the Florence.
เดินผ่านประตูทางเข้า เข้ามาบริเวณด้านในจะพบนักท่องเที่ยวมากมาย ถ้าเราเดินชมรอบ ๆ อย่างเดียว จะไม่เสียเงิน แต่ถ้าจะเข้าไปดูข้างในอาคารที่เป็นโดมหรือโบสถ์ หรือจะเดินขึ้นไปบนหอเอน ก็จะต้องไปซื้อตั๋วที่บริเวณจุดขายตั๋วตรงเยื้อง ๆ กับตัวหอเอน สองพ่อลูกตัดสินใจไม่ปีนขึ้นหอเอน อยากจะเก็บแรงไว้ เพราะทริปนี้ยังอีกยาวไกล
It was beautiful inside the Duomo and the Cathedral but the most impressive thing to do at the area of the Leaning Tower was to sit on the grass field, watch the old wall and have a picnic in a light breeze . And “Yes”, we had lunch there in a light and pleasant breeze. Another thing to do was to take photo of yourself pushing the tower. Father had fun to post for me. But his position looked like he was touching the tower not pushing it.
เดินเข้าไปดูข้างในโดมกับโบสถ์ก็สวยดี แต่ที่ประทับใจที่สุดก็คือการนั่งเล่นริมสนามหญ้าที่ร่มรื่น นั่งดูกำแพงเก่า ลมพัดตลอดเย็นสบาย ได้พักผ่อนจริง ๆ นั่งไปทานอาหารกลางวันไป และที่พลาดไม่ได้คือ การถ่ายรูปเอามือดันหอเอน พ่อยอมเป็นนายแบบให้ แต่พ่อทำท่าเหมือนแตะมากกว่า
After spending three hours at the Leaning Tower, we bought ice-cream and some souvenir and then took bus back to the train station. The next stop was Florence, the city that many people told me not to miss it.
ออกมาด้านนอกแวะซื้อไอศกรีมและของฝากญาติโยมเป็นที่ตัดเล็บกับโปสการ์ด ใช้เวลาประมาณ 3 ชั่วโมงเห็นจะได้ก็นั่งรถเมล์กลับไปที่สถานีรถไฟ รับกระเป๋าคืน และเตรียมตัวออกเดินทางไปฟลอเรนซ์ เมืองที่หลาย ๆ คนบอกว่า ไม่ไปแล้วจะเสียดาย
แล้วก็มีนิทรรศการเกี่ยวกับหนังสือสำคัญทางศาสนาอยู่จำนวนหนึ่ง คุ้มค่าแก่การแวะชมค่ะ ข้างในห้ามถ่ายรูป จึงมีรูปมาฝากกันไม่มากเท่าไรนัก ได้ปีนไปดูห้องใต้หลังคาโบสถ์ด้วยค่ะ จริง ๆ ดูไปดูมาแอบหลอนนิด ๆ เพราะบ้างในค่อนข้างมืด และคนน้อย
